In this masterclass, we will delve into the importance of content types for a strong SharePoint Information Architecture. You’ll learn how to effectively design and implement content types to improve the organization and discoverability of content in your SharePoint envoironment.

We will start by discussing the concept of content types and how they can be used to create a structured hierarchy of content. We will also cover best practices for creating and managing content types, including how to define metadata fields and behaviors that are specific to a certain type of content, such as a project task or a news article.

We will also cover the concept of an organisational content type and the role it should play and how to create additional content types from it. Additionally, you’ll learn how to use metadata from the content types to boost the relevance of search results and show them in a certain way based on the content type.

The masterclass will also provide a hands-on experience for you to learn how to create, manage and use content types in SharePoint. And through examples, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of how to apply these concepts in your own organization.

We also highlighted the advantages of creating a base organizational-wide Content Type which can be used as a foundation for creating all other Content Types.

In Part 2, I will show you how to create additional Content Types based on the organizational-wide Content Type created in Part 1.
